Comprehensive Sexuality Health Education based Life Skills Project

Comprehensive Sexuality Health Education (CSE) based Life Skills Project integrates medically accurate, age-appropriate information on sexuality with essential life skills to empower adolescents in schools and communities for healthy relationships, informed choices, well-being, and rights protection, covering topics like body positivity, self-esteem, body rights and safety, consent, gender, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and mental health moving beyond just risk avoidance to a holistic, rights-based approach that builds self-efficacy and positive attitudes towards owning their agency and identity.

What is CSE?

Comprehensive Sexuality Health Education (CSE) - or the many other ways this may be referred to - is a lifeskills-based process of learning about the cognitive, emotional, physical and social aspects of one's bodily development and sexuality. It aims to equip children and young people with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that empowers them to realize their health, well-being and dignity; develop respectful social and sexual relationships; consider how their choices affect their own well-being and that of others; and understand and ensure the protection of their rights and others throughout their lives.

CSE presents sexuality with a positive approach, emphasizing values such as respect, inclusion, non-discrimination, equality, empathy, responsibility and reciprocity. It reinforces healthy and positive values about bodies, puberty, relationships, sex and family life.

Our Interventions

Through our flagship programs, BeAGirl and UnMASC we have reached over 3500 learners in 5 districts across in nearly 25 schools across Tamilnadu with life skills and sexuality education, and an additional 5,000 young people in and out of school through media platforms and advocacy mobilizing communities, teachers, community leaders, parents and civil society by 2025.
